Converting a School Bus

into the Best Bus Glamping in the UK

SKOOLIE STAYS SUSSEX

Hello. We are Andy & Fi. A hundred* years ago we converted a number of 1970s VW Campervans for hire. They were great fun and very popular - all had a Rock n Roll Bed, Fridge, Sink, Gas Hob - perfect for long weekends, festivals or a week or two touring the UK.

Our next project turned a 26-seater Toyota Coach into a true home on wheels. We named it ‘Humpy’ and toured the surf spots and beaches of Europe for a few Summers. It had everything we wanted (yes - a wine rack) and many said it was one of the best bus conversions they had seen.

Then in 2021 we had a Weird & Wonderful idea to buy an american school bus and convert it into fabulous holiday glamping accommodation.

After some research we found a gorgeous example available straight from a School District in Texas and (with the help of some cool mates in the U.S.) we bought it. Then, in a moment we can't actually remember, we bought another from Long Beach School District in California!

We chose full length "Dog-Nose' type Split-Screen Buses - voted the most stylish of all because these have all the space we wanted to create our dream.

Converting american skoolies is a thing; everyone has tips and ideas for floor plans, styles, layouts and designs. Some were brilliant, others hilarious, many were awful, and some just weird. We knew exactly what we wanted to do though - create the most beautifully converted cool & funky american school buses in the UK. And the weirdest, obviously...

So we did it - we built fabulous warm and comfy school buses with quality sleeping, a fully equipped kitchen, space to sit, eat and lounge, a great shower, a welcoming and bright open space with beautiful decor - now available for glamping stays at fabulous camping locations around the UK.

See our latest project! Another Weird & Wonderful idea was to buy a Yellow Submarine and convert it into a unique and quirky glamping accommodation.
